- 1 loaf of bread, cubed (about 8 cups)
- 1 cup dried cranberries
- 2 apples, peeled and diced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 1 tsp dried sage
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Spread bread cubes on a baking sheet and toast for 10 minutes.
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion and celery for 5 minutes.
- Add apples and cook for another 3 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine toasted bread, sautéed vegetables, cranberries, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Gradually pour broth over the mixture, stirring until evenly moist.
- Transfer to a greased baking dish, cover, and bake for 30 minutes.
- Uncover and bake for 10 more minutes until golden.
