Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 2 apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 egg, beaten (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cut in butter until mixture resembles crumbs.
  4. Add cold water and mix until dough forms.
  5. Roll dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  6. Toss apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  7. Spread apples over half the dough.
  8. Fold dough over apples and seal edges.
  9. Brush with beaten egg.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Use Granny Smith apples for a tart flavor.
  • Chill dough for 30 minutes before rolling for better texture.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
