Description

Fluffy scones packed with fresh apples and topped with a sweet maple glaze.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 cup diced apple
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl.
  3. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in diced apple.
  5. In another bowl, mix milk, egg, and vanilla. Add to dry ingredients.
  6. Mix just until combined. Do not overwork.
  7. Turn dough onto floured surface. Pat into a 1-inch thick circle.
  8. Cut into 8 wedges. Place on baking sheet.
  9. Bake 15-18 minutes until golden.
  10. Whisk powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk for glaze. Drizzle over warm scones.

Notes

  • Use cold butter for flaky texture.
  • Do not overmix the dough.
  • Best served fresh but can be stored for 2 days.
