- 1 loaf French bread, cut into cubes
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp corn syrup
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Place bread cubes in the dish.
- Whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a bowl.
- Pour mixture over bread cubes. Press down to soak.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix melted butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup. Drizzle over the casserole.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Use stale bread for better texture.
- Add nuts or fruit for extra flavor.
- Reheat leftovers in the oven.
