Ingredients

- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Black food coloring (gel preferred)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for decorating)
- 1 tbsp milk (for decorating)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients. Add black food coloring until desired darkness is achieved.
- Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut with cat-shaped cookie cutters.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are firm. Cool completely.
- Mix powdered sugar and milk to create icing. Decorate cookies with eyes and whiskers.
Notes
- Chill dough for 30 minutes if it’s too soft to roll
- Use gel food coloring for vibrant black color
- Store in airtight container for up to 1 week
