Description

A crispy, flavorful Cajun deep-fried turkey seasoned with spices and cooked to perfection.


Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (1214 lbs)
  • 3 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 3 gallons peanut oil

Instructions

  1. Pat the turkey dry inside and out.
  2. Mix Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Rub the seasoning mix all over the turkey, including under the skin.
  4. Heat peanut oil in a deep fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Slowly lower the turkey into the hot oil and fry for 3-4 minutes per pound.
  6. Check the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
  7. Remove the turkey and let it rest for 20 minutes before carving.

  • Use a thermometer to monitor oil temperature.
  • Keep a fire extinguisher nearby for safety.
