- 2 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder

- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt butter in a pan, add brown sugar and stir until smooth.
- Pour caramel mixture into a greased cake pan.
- Arrange apple slices over caramel.
- Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Beat white sugar and egg until fluffy, then add milk and vanilla.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients.
- Pour batter over apples.
- Bake for 40 minutes or until golden.
- Cool for 10 minutes before flipping onto a plate.

- Use firm apples like Granny Smith.
- Check cake with a toothpick before removing from oven.
