- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ginger
- 1/4 tsp cardamom
- 1/4 tsp cloves
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch cake pan.
- Mix dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices) in a bowl.
- Cream butter in a separate bowl. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
- Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, mixing until smooth.
- Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool completely before serving.
Notes
- For stronger chai flavor, steep 1 chai tea bag in the milk for 10 minutes before using.
- Dust with powdered sugar or top with whipped cream if desired.
