Description

A rich and creamy potato gratin with layers of thinly sliced potatoes baked in a cheesy sauce.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp butter, for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  3. Layer half the potato slices in the dish.
  4. Sprinkle half the garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg over the potatoes.
  5. Pour half the cream over the potatoes.
  6. Sprinkle half the Gruyère and Parmesan cheese on top.
  7. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  9. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use a mandoline for even potato slices.
  • Let the gratin rest to set before cutting.
  • Substitute with cheddar if Gruyère is unavailable.
