Ingredients

  • 4 cups crumbled cornbread
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp dried sage
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add celery and onion, sauté until soft.
  3. In a large bowl, combine crumbled cornbread, sautéed vegetables, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. Stir in beaten eggs and broth until mixture is moist but not soggy.
  5. Transfer to a greased baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown on top.

Notes

  • For a crispier top, broil for 1-2 minutes after baking.
  • Use homemade or store-bought cornbread.
