Description

Delicious apple hand pies made with a flaky crust and sweet apple filling.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 46 tbsp ice water
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Mix flour and salt in a bowl.
  2. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add ice water, 1 tbsp at a time, until dough forms.
  4. Wrap dough in plastic and chill for 30 minutes.
  5. Combine apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice in a bowl.
  6. Roll out dough and cut into circles.
  7. Place apple filling on half of each circle.
  8. Fold dough over and seal edges with a fork.
  9. Brush with egg wash and bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes.

Notes

  • Chill dough for easier handling.
  • Adjust sugar based on apple sweetness.
  • Serve warm with ice cream if desired.
