Description
A classic French dessert with caramelized figs baked under a buttery pastry crust.

- 8 fresh figs, halved
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Melt butter and sugar in a 10-inch ovenproof skillet over medium heat.
- Arrange fig halves cut-side down in the skillet.
- Roll out puff pastry and place it over the figs.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Invert onto a serving plate immediately after baking.
Notes
- Use ripe but firm figs.
- Work quickly when inverting the tart.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
