Description

A classic French dessert with caramelized figs baked under a buttery pastry crust.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 fresh figs, halved
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Melt butter and sugar in a 10-inch ovenproof skillet over medium heat.
  3. Arrange fig halves cut-side down in the skillet.
  4. Roll out puff pastry and place it over the figs.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Invert onto a serving plate immediately after baking.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm figs.
  • Work quickly when inverting the tart.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
