- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cream cheese
- 2 jalapeños, diced
- 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour to make a roux.
- Gradually add milk, whisking constantly until smooth.
- Stir in cheddar and cream cheese until melted and creamy.
- Add diced jalapeños, bacon, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Combine cheese sauce with cooked macaroni.
- Transfer to a baking dish and top with breadcrumbs.
- Bake at 350°F for 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
Notes
- Remove jalapeño seeds for less heat.
- Use gluten-free pasta if needed.
- Add extra cheese for a richer flavor.
