Description

A visually striking cake with lemon flavor and blackberry spider web design, perfect for Halloween or themed parties.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup blackberry jam
  • 1/2 cup whipped cream
  • Black food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light. Add eggs one at a time.
  4. Stir in lemon zest, juice, and vanilla.
  5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the batter.
  6. Pour batter into the pan and bake for 35-40 minutes.
  7. Cool the cake completely.
  8. Spread blackberry jam on top. Pipe whipped cream in a spiral.
  9. Drag a toothpick from center to edges to create a web pattern.
  10. Chill before serving.

  • Use room temperature ingredients for even mixing.
  • Adjust sugar if blackberry jam is too sweet.
  • For darker web lines, add black food coloring to whipped cream.
