Description

Mississippi Mud Potatoes are a rich and indulgent side dish. They combine creamy mashed potatoes with cheese, bacon, and butter for a hearty comfort food classic.


Ingredients

  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 6 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 green onions, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15 minutes.
  2. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
  3. Add butter and milk. Mash until smooth.
  4. Stir in cheddar cheese, sour cream, bacon, salt, and pepper.
  5. Mix until well combined.
  6. Garnish with green onions if desired.
  7. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra creaminess, use heavy cream instead of milk.
  • Top with extra shredded cheese and broil for 2 minutes for a crispy finish.
