Ingredients

- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg.
- Add melted butter, egg, buttermilk, and vanilla extract. Stir until combined.
- Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness on a floured surface. Cut into donut shapes.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels. Let cool before serving.
Notes
- Use a donut cutter or two round cutters for shaping.
- Adjust frying time for desired crispiness.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
