Description

Classic old fashioned donuts with a crispy exterior and soft interior. Perfect for breakfast or a sweet treat.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg.
  2. Add melted butter, egg, buttermilk, and vanilla extract. Stir until combined.
  3. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness on a floured surface. Cut into donut shapes.
  4. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  5. Drain on paper towels. Let cool before serving.
