Ingredients

  • 1 loaf day-old bread, cubed
  • 1 pint shucked oysters, drained
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried sage
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Sauté onion, celery, and garlic until soft.
  4. Add thyme, sage, and pepper. Stir for 1 minute.
  5. Mix in bread cubes and parsley.
  6. Fold in oysters gently.
  7. Pour broth over mixture until moist but not soggy.
  8. Transfer to a baking dish.
  9. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes.
