Ingredients

  • Maraschino cherries
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Melt 1/4 cup butter in a skillet and stir in brown sugar. Spread in a 9-inch cake pan.
  3. Arrange pineapple slices and cherries on the sugar mixture.
  4. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  5. Cream softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla.
  6. Alternate adding flour mixture and milk to the batter.
  7. Pour batter over pineapple in the pan.
  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden.
  9. Cool for 10 minutes, then invert onto a plate.
