Decadent red velvet cupcakes with a rich cream cheese frosting.
Ingredients

- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tbsp red food coloring
- 1 tsp white vinegar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and line a cupcake pan with liners.
- Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- Beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add eggs one at a time.
- Mix in vanilla, buttermilk, food coloring, and vinegar.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients.
- Fill cupcake liners 2/3 full and bake for 18-20 minutes.
- Cool completely before frosting.

- Use room-temperature ingredients for best results.
- Do not overmix the batter.
