Description

A festive marble cake with red, white, and blue layers perfect for patriotic celebrations.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, mixing until smooth.
  7. Divide batter into three equal parts. Color one part red, one part blue, and leave one part plain.
  8. Drop spoonfuls of each colored batter randomly into the pan.
  9. Swirl gently with a knife to create a marble effect.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  11. Cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring for vibrant colors.
  • Do not overmix the batter after adding food coloring.
  • For best results, chill the cake before slicing.
