Description

Russian tea cakes are buttery, nutty cookies rolled in powdered sugar. They melt in your mouth and are perfect for holidays or any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Additional powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add flour, nuts, and salt until well combined.
  5. Shape dough into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased baking sheets.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until set but not browned.
  7. Cool slightly, then roll warm cookies in powdered sugar.
  8. Cool completely and roll again in powdered sugar before serving.
