A spooky yet delicious vanilla bean cake decorated with a dark glaze spider web design, perfect for Halloween.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 vanilla bean (or 2 tsp vanilla extract)
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan.
- In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Scrape seeds from vanilla bean and add to mixture (or use vanilla extract).
- In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cake cool completely before applying glaze.
Notes
- For best results, sift dry ingredients to avoid lumps.
- If using vanilla extract, add it with the wet ingredients.
- Let cake cool completely before decorating to prevent glaze from melting.
