Description

A spooky and fun Witch’s Cauldron Cake perfect for Halloween. This chocolate cake is shaped like a bubbling cauldron with green frosting for a magical effect.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • Green food coloring
  • Black fondant (for decoration)
  • 1 batch chocolate frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan and a metal bowl for the cauldron shape.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in boiling water. The batter will be thin.
  5. Pour into pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool cakes completely. Stack the round cake and the bowl-shaped cake to form the cauldron.
  7. Frost with chocolate frosting. Add green food coloring to some frosting for a bubbling effect.
  8. Decorate with black fondant for the cauldron details.
