- 6 cups day-old bread, cubed
- 2 large apples, peeled and diced
- 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
- 3 cups milk
- 4 large eggs
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Place the bread cubes and diced apples in the dish. Sprinkle raisins over if using.
- In a bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Pour the milk mixture evenly over the bread and apples. Press down gently to soak.
- Drizzle melted butter on top.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until golden and set. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use stale bread for best texture.
- You can substitute raisins with chopped nuts.
- Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
