- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour

- 2 cups waffle mix
- 1 1/3 cups water
- 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions
- Place chicken in a bowl. Pour buttermilk over it. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Mix flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder in a shallow dish.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F.
- Remove chicken from buttermilk. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture.
- Fry chicken for 5-7 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
- Prepare waffle mix with water and melted butter according to package directions.
- Cook waffles in a preheated waffle iron until golden and crisp.
- Serve chicken on top of waffles. Drizzle with maple syrup.
Notes
- You can use boneless chicken breasts instead of thighs.
- Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes after frying for extra crispiness.
