Description
Chocolate Turtle Cookies are chewy chocolate cookies topped with caramel, pecans, and a drizzle of melted chocolate. They taste like the classic turtle candy.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 30 soft caramel candies, unwrapped
- 3 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1/2 cup pecan halves
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to butter mixture, mixing until combined.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on baking sheets.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until edges are set. Remove from oven and let cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, combine caramels and heavy cream, stirring until smooth.
- Spoon a small amount of caramel onto each cookie top. Press a pecan half into the caramel.
- Melt chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring each time. Drizzle over cookies.
- Let cookies set until chocolate hardens, about 30 minutes.
Notes
- Use parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- You can substitute pecans with walnuts if desired.
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
