Description

These Cranberry Maple Scones are a perfect blend of tart cranberries and sweet maple flavor, ideal for breakfast or a snack.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the dried cranberries.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together maple syrup, heavy cream, and vanilla extract.
  6. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  7. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and shape into a circle about 1 inch thick.
  8. Cut the circle into 8 wedges and place them on a baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh cranberries if you prefer a more tart flavor.
  • For a glaze, mix powdered sugar with a little maple syrup and drizzle over cooled scones.
