Description
This Crock-Pot Christmas Jam combines cranberries, oranges, and spices for a festive spread. You simmer the ingredients in a slow cooker until thick. It makes a great gift or topping for toast, scones, or cheesecake.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 ounces fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1 large orange, peeled and chopped
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 packet (1.75 ounces) powdered fruit pectin
Instructions
- Combine cranberries, orange, sugars, water, cinnamon stick, ginger, cloves, and salt in your Crock-Pot.
- Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours. Stir occasionally.
- Remove the cinnamon stick.
- Mash the cranberries and orange with a potato masher for a chunkier jam. For a smoother jam, use an immersion blender.
- Whisk in the pectin until fully dissolved.
- Cook on high for 30 minutes. Stir once.
- Test the jam: Place a small spoonful on a cold plate. If it wrinkles when you push it with your finger, it is set.
- Ladle the hot jam into sterilized jars. Leave 1/4 inch headspace.
- Seal the jars and process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
Notes
- You can use frozen cranberries without thawing.
- Adjust sugar to taste. Less sugar makes a tarter jam.
- Store unopened jars in a cool, dark place for up to 1 year.
- Refrigerate after opening.
