Description
A simple French apple cake made with fresh apples and a light batter. This cake is moist and not too sweet. It uses no alcohol.

- 3 medium apples (peeled, cored, diced)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat eggs. Add melted butter and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the diced apples gently.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Spread evenly.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, until golden and a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving if desired.
Notes
- You can use any firm apple variety like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
