Description

Crispy on the outside, soft inside. These fried mashed potato balls make a great snack or side dish.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cold mashed potatoes
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Mix mashed potatoes, cheese, green onions, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Shape mixture into 1-inch balls.
  3. Dip each ball in flour, then in beaten egg, then in breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry balls in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Drain on paper towels. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use cold mashed potatoes for easier shaping.
  • You can bake balls at 400°F for 15 minutes instead of frying.
  • Add your favorite herbs or spices for extra flavor.
