Description

Make smooth and cinnamon-spiced applesauce in your Instant Pot. This quick recipe uses fresh apples and minimal sugar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples (such as Gala or Fuji), peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Place chopped apples, water, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice in the Instant Pot. Stir to combine.
  2. Close the lid and set the valve to sealing. Select Manual or Pressure Cook on high for 8 minutes.
  3. When the timer ends, let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, then quick release any remaining steam.
  4. Open the lid. Mash the apples with a potato masher or blend with an immersion blender for your desired texture.
  5. Let the applesauce cool before serving or storing in airtight containers.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • For unsweetened applesauce, omit the sugar.
  • You can add a pinch of nutmeg or allspice for extra flavor.
