Description
A copycat recipe for McDonald’s apple pie with a crispy, flaky crust and warm, sweet apple filling.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2/3 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 4 cups peeled and diced apples (such as Granny Smith)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and 1 tablespoon sugar. Cut in butter until crumbly. Add cold water and mix until dough forms. Wrap in plastic and chill for 30 minutes.
- In a saucepan, combine apples, 1/2 cup sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat until apples soften and mixture thickens. Let cool.
- Roll out dough on a floured surface. Cut into rectangles about 4×6 inches.
- Place a spoonful of apple filling on one half of each rectangle. Fold the other half over and press edges with a fork to seal.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry pies in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
Notes
- You can use store-bought pie crust to save time.
- Adjust sugar to your taste.
- These pies are best eaten fresh.
