- 8 slices bread (such as sourdough or gluten-free), cubed
- 1 cup cooked turkey, diced
- 1 medium apple, cored and diced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread half the bread cubes in the dish.
- Layer with half the turkey, apple, and cheese. Repeat with remaining bread, turkey, apple, and cheese.
- In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, mustard, salt, pepper, and thyme. Pour evenly over the layers.
- Press down gently to soak the bread. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes until golden and set in the center.
- Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute cooked chicken or sausage for turkey.
- Use a firm apple like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
- For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free bread.
