- 4 cups fresh or canned peaches, sliced
- 2 cups sugar, divided
- 1/2 cup water
- 8 tablespoons butter
- 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine peaches, 1 cup sugar, and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes.
- Melt butter in a 3-quart baking dish.
- Mix flour, remaining 1 cup sugar, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon in a bowl. Pour over melted butter.
- Spoon peach mixture over batter. Do not stir.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
- For a crispier crust, bake an additional 5 minutes.
