- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups apples, peeled and diced (about 4 medium apples)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in egg to form a dough.
- Press dough evenly into the prepared pan. Bake for 15 minutes, until lightly golden.
- In a separate bowl, combine diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Toss to coat.
- Spread apple mixture over the baked crust.
- In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup flour, 1/4 cup brown sugar, and 1/4 cup cold butter. Mix until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until apples are tender and topping is golden.
- Let cool completely before cutting into bars.
